The Perils of Penelope Pitstop (2 DVDs Box Set)

The Perils of Penelope Pitstop (1969-1971). First appearing as one of the many competitors in the 1968 animated series Wacky Races, pink-clad Southern belle Penelope Pitstop graduated to her own show the following year, bringing along former rivals the Ant Hill Mob as somewhat-reformed co-stars. In this spinoff, sinister villain the Hooded Claw (voiced by a cackling Paul Lynde) follows Penelope in her adventures across the globe, plotting nefarious ways to bring about her demise as the Ant Hill Mob races to her rescue. Trapped in a constant stream of life-threatening predicaments, the resourceful heiress always manages to pull off a last-second escape, much like the heroines of the silent-movie cliffhangers that obviously inspired this series.
